Norian Love was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1979. He grew up in Houston, Texas, where he’s lived for the last twenty years. While taking a short hiatus from working for fortune 500 companies as a technology specialist, he rediscovered his passion for writing poetry and released his first book, (Theater of Pain), which was critically acclaimed. The reception and momentum of this book sparked him to create his eagerly anticipated follow up, (Games of The Heart) and the final book in the trilogy (The Dawn or the Dusk) a few years later.  He soon began working on and finished his first novel (Money, Power & Sex: A Love Story), which has recently been released and is already receiving outstanding critical praise.

  1. What made you decide to sit down and write Money, Power & Sex: A Love Story –  I had this idea floating around in my head for some time and I wanted to see if I could tell a story from start to finish. I felt that if I didn’t know the answer to the question, I’d always regret not trying.

It was a challenge that I needed to accept.

  1. Describe your writing process to us I normally wake up around 4:30 AM, make breakfast, put on some music and look outside my window and watch my neighborhood to kind of getting some ideas to flow.  Anything from 2pac to The Delfonics will probably become inspiration depending on the scene I’m writing.  I stay at it until noon or so.  Then I look at what I’ve written and see if it makes any sense.

  1. What was the hardest thing about writing MPS and what did you learn if anything during the process? I learned so much about who I am as a person in this process. Specifically what it takes for me to commit to a massive task. When you consider the actual style I chose to tackle, writing in four different voices, with each one playing the role of the protagonist it’s hard. Not to mention developing those characters and trying to pull it all together in the same novel, digging into their emotions, motives, and their points of view was pretty ambitious, especially for a first novel. I felt like I pulled it off well.

  1. We would have to agree with that! Now the title Money, Power & Sex: A Love Story could be considered a double entendre was that intentional? That’s exactly what it is! If you notice each character is in a relationship, yet at the same time they also have something external that they are obsessed with or love. It was always my intent to make the reader question did this character love Money or X person. Power or Y person and so on.

  1. The way this books ends…wow. We have to ask how soon can we expect the sequel? I’m working on it every day. You make a cliff hanger and people want to know what happens next immediately.  With writing, you have so much detail to cover; it isn’t easy to make sure you cover all the outstanding issues while creating new conflicts.  If I wanted to just put out something really quick I could’ve done that, but I’d feel like I’m cheating the audience.  I want to make sure the reader is having a good time. The last thing I want to do is rush a project and leave people dissatisfied because sequels fall short. But at the same time you don’t want to wait too long where people forget what’s happening in the story line.  I’m pretty active working on the entire project.  There’s a lot that goes into making a sequel so you have to make sure you bring it.  I’m hoping December.

  1. Is there any plan to develop any of the characters in a standalone novel say like a Ronnie, Donovan or Nichelle? I get asked all the time about Ronnie. And that’s what I was kind of inferring on the last question. I do plan on giving her room to be the baddest woman on the planet.  No question.  Donovan would be interesting too, but right now I’m working on a novella called Seduction that ties directly into MPS.  It’s not the sequel but it is sort of a spiritual successor to Money, Power & Sex.  If you read the book you know we’re about thirteen months into the future. This book I’m working on now is going to pick up right after the events of MPS. But it’s a standalone story.  It will probably create more questions, than answers but I hope that’s a good thing.
  2. Outside of Money Power and Sex series are you working on any other projects? I am currently working on 4 novels.  I hope they are all going to see the light of day before the end of first quarter next year. It’s a pretty hectic writing schedule but I’m committed to making sure I get them out there sooner versus later.
