1. Tell us a little about yourself – Where you grew up, your spiritual background, family.
I am originally from the island of Jamaica, and I migrated to America at eleven years of age. I lived in New York City most of my life before relocating to Florida about 10 years ago. My family is close-knit and most of my siblings live in the same town. My father is a minister, so I am highly involved in ministry from a child. I am also a single mother of two teenaged sons. I work full time in the day as a reading specialist for special education students.
2. When did you realize you wanted to write?
I always enjoyed writing and started writing songs from a teen. However it wasn’t until I was in twenties and had young sons that I wrote my first full length novel.
The Fall of the Prodigal is the third book in the On the Right Path series and was released this past January. It’s filed with romance and suspense and features characters Michael, Keith and Gina from the first two novels. So far I’ve received a lot of five-star reviews and from tired up-all-night-because-I-have-
Michael Ward is at the top of his game and he doesn’t need anyone or anything. Money is his new best friend–until he’s arrested for a heinous crime. As much as he hates to admit it, Michael needs his brother, Keith Ward, the man who stole his wife and children. Will Michael open his heart to forgive his brother?
Verona “Tiger” Stachs has been Michaels’ attorney for years. She’s in love with him, but is tired of being treated as his guinea pig. A lapsed Christian, Verona finds herself being drawn closer to God. She thought she was through with God, but soon discovers He’s nowhere through with her. Which relationship will she choose?
Keith Ward’s a prominent minister and family man, yet he yearns to rekindle his relationship with his brother. When Michael calls him explaining that he desperately needs his help, Keith jumps at the chance to set things right with Michael. Will Keith be able to lead Michael into the light?
4. Take us inside “The Fall of the Prodigal.” What are two major events taking place?
One major event is the reconcilation of Keith and Michael. It’s not easy path but we see forgiveness and the strong bond of family at work.
Another major event is the serious case against Michael. The Fall of the Prodigal starts out with some incriminating charges and Michael needs to prove his innocence.
5. What would you like for readers to get out of The Fall of the Prodigal?
6. If you were to write a book about a controversial topic, what would it be?
I have written about so many tough topics in my current works. I have published seven books so far and each one deal with serious issues. However, I think any venture into politics or corporal punishment would make for good debate.
7. Do you have any upcoming releases?
Yes. My Soul Then Sings is scheduled for publication on August 25, 2015. It is the second book in what I’m now calling the Song of the Heart series. Because of reader feedback on my very first work, Sing A New Song, I decided to revisit Karlie and other characters five years later. Please visit my website as I’ll soon post sample chapters.
